Recently, I’ve been given the opportunity to use My School Year (Homeschool Record Keeping) from MySchoolYear.com to plan and track our school work.  When I showed interest in this review, my main focus was to be able to use this resource to create a solid transcript representative of my high schoolers work.  While my two oldest daughters aren’t sure if they would like to attend college, I want to keep their options open and a good transcript is a necessity.

MySchoolYear.com Review
I was super eager to get started, especially when I learned that MySchoolYear.com is compatible to use with iPhones.  I soon learned that this resource was included so much more than just transcript creation!  Basically, you are able to enter classes for each child, and record their grades accordingly.  When I figured this out, I added all five of my children who are currently completing work in our homeschool to the program.  I did this all from the comfort of my phone while on the go.  This feature was a huge plus for me since other than my phone which has an unlimited data plan, the internet usage at our home is extremely limited.

After I added the kids to the program from my phone, I decided to look through the website a bit better when I was sitting down at my desktop since I didn’t easily find where I could begin creating transcripts from my phone.  I found this information in the “Reports” section, and surprisingly, there were tons of resources right at my fingertips!  Besides simply creating a transcript, I could track events, extracurricular activities, lesson plans, materials, and more.

The Teacher’s Aid feature is also awesome.  If MySchoolYear.com senses that you have missed entering a piece of information or grade, it will alert you so families can easily stay on top of things.  I received email reminders as well, which is great for moms who have their hands full.

In order to use this program to its full ability, I also discovered that I would have to manually enter a good bit of grade information.  While I’m sure many families would be wonderfully pleased with this feature, it wasn’t quite what I was looking for.  It would be nice if in the future MySchoolYear.com made a way for this to be overridden so parents could easily fill in final grades for a ready-made professional looking transcript.

If you are ever stuck while searching through this program, MySchoolYear.com offers a ton of help options.  If you have a question, help is just a click or email away.

Would I recommend MySchoolYear.com to others?

Yes, most definitely!  If you are a homeschooling mom and dad who is hoping to create track of your child’s grades, lesson plans, and more, than MySchoolYear.com might be just the program for you!  It’s ease of use is fabulous, and it’s compatibility with iPhones and the like is perfect for families on the go.
